Sorry sorry sorry

Sorry sorry sorry I should've posted this like a month ago but things happened like me being extremely lazy and it did not come to pass.

ANYWAY

I went to the Ohmawari Fireworks Festival in Akita-ken a few weeks ago. it was awesome. we left at like 3 am to get there in time to grab a good spot. We got there about 9 am and set up to wait out the whole day for the fireworks to begin. Thanksfully, we arrived early enough to get a good spot so we could see the fireworks from our campsite. The pictures:

Our little campsite:
As the day wore on, it grew hotter and buggier. some of us barely escaped with awful farmers tans. Kathleen, however, emergd unscathed:

At one point the tents turned into spas and we were sweated out of them. grabbbing what tarps and poles and pole-like objects we could find, we built a shelter on the back of Satoko's car.

Our inner hobos beamed with pride:

Yoshika celebrates driving six hours and without falling asleep by having a beer at 10:30 am. In short, we are friends.

Two shots of our CREATION:

This bridge/walkedway was filled with people for the entirety of the day. It was a constant stream of people for 12 hours. The closest thing I have ever seen to fleeing refugees.

Eventually the shelter was abandoned and we took up final positions behind the tents/cars.
The crowd of spectators/refugee camp was humoungous (sp?).

Daytime fireworks! who knew?

Best firework: the Gumbah from Mario Bros.
